Ready, set--

It's Saturday afternoon. I'm sitting in my filthy apartment eating a turkey sandwich and drinking coffee. I bought a sack load of cleaning products and now must muster up enough energy to scrub, spray, wipe and sweep.

I've been running like a crazed demon these past few weeks and haven't had a chance to post some great news:

I'm starting Brown's MFA program in playwriting this fall!

More info soon...

This Amy Winehouse chick

I realize I'm rather late on the Amy Winehouse band wagon, but I never claimed to be hip to such things in a timely manner.

I bought the cd Saturday, and I'm in love with everything this woman has produced.
The lyrics are GREAT. This chick knows how to put down strong images and phrases.

The music is wonderful. Her voice is incredible.

It's good stuff all around.

And, can I just say, she doesn't look anything like she sings. I never would've guessed that voice came from a 23 year-old Jewish gurl from England.

And isn't it a lil shady how passive ?uestlove is in this article when asked about her being an alcoholic?

Holy crap, I'm a supa-star

I have a generic name. The only thing that makes my name unique is the fact that I come with it. And I'd like to think I'm a one-of-a-kind individual.

There are LOTS of references to "Christina Anderson" in cyberspace. Google has almost 38,000 results when you search the name. We're taking care of business in all aspects of existence: doctors, biologists, athletes, teachers, deceased and porn stars.

Ever since I started the site I'd Google myself frequently to see if my domain name would pop up.

I'd type: "Christina Anderson" playwright

Some articles and old links would come up, but nothing about my site.

I'd type: "Christina Anderson" theater

I'd get similar, if not the same hits.

This morning, not expecting anything, I type: Christina Anderson

(wait...for...it)

Holy crap, I'm a supa star.

There I am on the FIRST PAGE.

I haven't figured out how to insert the little tag line, so the site is described as "item 1." But I don't care. I'm on the first page of "Christina Anderson" Google results!

These internet victories don't last long so tell your friends!

And just like that...

the site is up and running.
I woke up this morning determined to work out the kinks.
Two hours later we can see the images and text. We can visit other sites posted on the links page. We can contact my agent and offer to produce my work or commission a new piece.

Everything is how it should be at christinaranderson.com. Simple and clean. The blog has a new look, too. (But you already knew that.)

Lots to report so I'll get to it:

  • The weather sux in NYC. I went out this afternoon to get a haircut and was continuously smacked in the face by pellets of ice as I walked to and from the subway. I am sick of crappy weather. I'm tired of being cold. I don't like my fingers freezing off. I don't like slush, cold wind blasts or snow. I just want blue skies, a cool breeze and a glass of ice tea. A hammock and a ukulele wouldn't be bad either.
  • My thumb still looks icky, but it feels a lot better. It's healing. I stopped wearing a bandage and people often gasp when they see it. "I didn't know it was that bad! I can't believe a burnt poptart did that! You should sue!" I'm just grateful I can play my PSP and unlock my front door again.
  • After a few days--okay, hours of internet research I decided to replace my ipod with another ipod. As you may, or may not, recall I was mourning babygurl's (my original ipod) retirement. I bought a green nano. And though I'm not completely satisfied, it'll have to do for now. Hence its given name Ms. Right Now. A reader posted advice on how to retrieve songs from babygurl. I'll google the info soon and hopefully get it all back.
  • Speaking of small gadgets that play music, I'm listening to lots of new music and will remount my "heavy rotation" list soon--maybe some time tonight? I feel like a bit of a dork typing this but I'm a recent fan of the All Songs Consideredpodcasts. Because of Bob Boilen's balmy voice and simple podcasts, I've fallen in love with bands such as Cold War Kids and Locksley.
  • Unable to find the image software that came with my Canon, I purchased Photoshop Elements. I fear I may be in over my head. Keep in mind I say that without having read the manual or tutorials. I've been periodically stumbling around the interface for a week and have only managed to turn lots of my photos right side up.
  • As for things related to playwriting, I'm waiting to hear back about three four great opportunities. So keep coming back to find out what happens.

Glitch

You're asking me, "cra, what's up with the site?!"
My response goes something like, "I don't know."

That phrase has been a recurring explanation for my technological glitches in 2007. If you visit the site now, you'll see I'm having issues.

Ugh. I've spent most of the morning trying to solve the mystery with no luck. Now I must go to work and pretend to care, sigh.
