Unfortunately, I have a crappy image browser so I can't rotate the pics I upload from the camera.
Tilt your head to the left . . . that's it. Okay. Pretty decent, huh?
Ugh.
Okay, something to buy this weekend, yea?
I decided I need to take more pictures of stuff. I've had my camera for a year and only whip it out at parties to capture shots of drunk friends.
Saturday a lovely companion offered a few "how to take a decent picture" tips.
This is the first of many shots that will sprinkle blog entries. They will eventually appear right side up.

". . .It's Toni. Ms. Morrison if you're nasty."

I'm on the hunt for a better picture of this portrait of Toni Morrison. I was in DC this past summer and visited the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture where this portrait resides. It frightens me yet pulls me in. For whatever reason I want an unobstructed jpeg for my desktop. I think it'll be good for me to have an image of a formidable Black female writer challenging me every time I turn on my power book.
Toni: I said WRITE muthafucka!

Good theater
I saw two wonderful theater things this week:
Company directed by John Doyle is the musical production that has certified my love for Steven Sondheim's brilliance. I saw it Wednesday and walked away with more likes than dislikes. I love the music and the lyrics. I also find that a level of intimacy exists in the John Doyle production that allowed me to love the music & lyrics even more. The actors play the score for this musical--being double and triple cast as trumpeters, saxophonists, bassists and percussionists. It's a wonderful and rare opportunity to really see talented actors do it all.
I wasn't too thrilled by the plot. I kind of felt like: oh, okay middle class white folks wallow in their hetero-normative lives.
Gag me with an extension cord.
The Broadway soundtrack arrives March 6th. Needless to say I'm excited.
And . . .
I saw Aya Ogawa's Ophelia3 at Here Arts Saturday night. It was the bomb-diggity. When I say Aya's a bad ass, I mean Aya is a bad ass.

I ransacked my apartment . . .
looking for the software that allows me to upload pics from my camera. As you may (or may not) know my hard drive died in September. I decided to install programs / software as I needed 'em instead of immediately piling everything on the new drive. I've taken lots of great pictures during the past couple of months but neglected to look for the fricking cd that contains the Canon image browser software.
Fast forward to New Year's day. I'm in my apartment looking for the cd and I can't find it. Here we are Thursday night and I still can't find it. I go to Canon's website and they won't let me download the software for free. I'm not paying for it because I know that stupid cd is in this apartment. It's in here. I can feel it in my bones.
At night, as I drift off to sleep, I can hear the lil' fucker laughing at me.

Jackie O The Opera
I was at work today doing mind numbing tasks while listening to this incredible opera. Why is it so interesting? The music, the voices and the lyrics deliver their own unique elements and combine to create a rich and full piece. Each action and movement is intentional and layered. The juxtaposition of operatic voices with pop elements is frickin' cool.
Know about it.
