I've been preaching the gospel of Ne-yo's Stay for a few weeks now.
It's catching like wildfire among the crew. If you haven't heard it, listen to it. You won't regret it.
It's a good ass song.
I swear, I need to find a way to post music clips on the blog. Do you know how to do this? I know it has something to do with quicktime and a simple tag. . . .
Not to jinx anything but I got a nomination for the Cherry Lane Project. It's one of the few things that I really really really want to happen.
But if I've learned anything from '05/first half of '06 it's that whatever I'm supposed to have will find its way to me.
So we'll see . . .
Okay. So.
I've decided that I will be one of "those people" who post you tube shit on their blogs.
Today, you'll get a shot of my all time favorite clip from the Strangers with Candy series.
What you need to know about this:
Do you remember in high school when you'd get an eggshell or a plastic baby to take care of for a week in order to get a "reality check" about what it might be like to take care of a baby?
Well, in Jerri's health class they've given each student an actual baby. Jerri is, of course, a horrible mother and abandons the baby at the park. Her teacher finds the baby and calls Jerri into the principal's office. As a last attempt to pass the assignment, Jerri agrees to partner up with another student named Tammy LittleNut.
Jerri has taken on the role of the "father" and given Tammy the role of the "mother".
Watch this clip. It's funny as h-e-double hockey sticks.

Sick Black Gurl says: whut?
whut?
I woke up this morning with major sinus issues but still had to drag my behind to work. And here I sit watching the clock.
I was looking through my archives and realized I promised to post pics from ATL. I forgot to take 'em. Ooops. I'm a bad person. But know that Black folks were looking good.
Also.
I'm absolutely obsessed with the crop of folks on "so you think you can dance?"
If ya don't know about it get with it man.
I like him, him, her, and this boy. Fingers crossed it'll be one of these four taking home the grand prize.
Know about this playwright. She's great.

Progress Chart
I cannot believe we're a week away from July!
I feel like June tiptoed past me without saying hi or sitting down to rest its feet.
It's almost fall. Time is moving like a mofoe.
I need a spring cleaning session soon.
This past weekend I noticed I have a lot of shit that I could really do without.
I also have to tighten le money belt.
This is a boring post. I know.
But you can't expect it to be glitz and glam all the time.

marination
I'm back in NYC. And I must admit when I stepped off the plane I felt relieved to be home. I never thought I'd consider New York my home but there I was smiling at all the things that make this city unique.
I left Atlanta with lots of stuff:
- a new draft
- new southern acquaintances
- a mission / challenge
I've decided that I'm going to take on a somewhat impossible task regarding my plays. I'm still working on how to pitch the concept so you'll have to wait before you can get the low down. Don't get too excited though. It's nothing major. I'm excited because it gives my work structure with endless possibilities.
Here's what I know: it will require good ol' fashion hard work on my part. But I'm passionate about what I do and naive about the practices of American Theater so maybe it'll work out for the best.
If you get a chance, get the latest issue of VIBE magazine. The cover story about Outkast is very good. Also, there's an odd piece about Jada Pinket Smith's new metal band. It seems her krew is trying a lil too hard. I laughed more than once while reading the article.

drop it like it's h-o-t
i wish i had a picture to post . . .
i'm in the ATL , sitting in a tavern, watching dr. phil and chomping on fries. livin the life, yea?
i'm deep into rewrites. fortunately, i actually like what's coming out. this draft is starting to resemble the play i see in my head.
my cast is great and very patient.
can i tell you how wonderful it is to write a new scene and hear really talented people read it?
it's wonderful.

...and the gut sighs.

EXCITED TO SEE THIS MOVIE.
I'm at work. I'll spare the details of the assignment I'm working on for fear you will drop dead of pure boredom.
There are lots and lots and lots of Christina Anderson-s in cyber land. They all do different kinds of activities, hold different positions, have various shades of blonde hair. . .
This proves to be a pain because I'm trying to get the web page listed on google (et al.) but the afore mentioned CA's have bombarded every search engine known to man.
Ugh.
On the upside: I'm continuing the hunt for . . . something. I'm currently obsessed with the "me/artist" relationship. I'm realizing there are lots of things I want to do with language/the written word/sound/theater/& film. I've decided I'll be brave enough to post my thoughts & revelations on the blog or on the site so stay tuned . . .
Speaking of the site, info about the DRIP. workshop in ATL is up and ready to be consumed. I'm EXCITED and ready to do major work on the play. And I promise I'll take pictures of the rehearsal process and post 'em.
Also if you look over to your right you will see I've updated Heavy Rotation.
See?
If you scroll down a little you will also see that I haven't updated my Reading List. FYI it hasn't taken me this long to finish those books.
I'm just being lazy.

Phoneix Suns 2006 Playoff Season RIP
My boys lost this weekend. I watched the whole thing happen in a bar in Park Slope. I had a wonderful and generous friend hold me as the final minutes ticked away in the fourth quarter.
~sniff, sniff~
On the upside I'm heading to Atlanta in 10 days to workshop my play DRIP. Yay! I've been too tired to post details on the site, but I'll do it some time this week. I promise. Shout out to Antje for setting it up. I'm convinced she is the best agent in the universe.
I spent about 65% of my weekend dancing
15% sleeping
5% riding the train
15% working at the office
Just in case you were wondering . . .

The Public Theater announced the plays for next season.
Check this out:
365 DAYS / 365 PLAYS
By SUZAN-LORI PARKS
NEW YORK PREMIERE
In November 2002, the Pulitzer prize-winning Suzan-Lori Parks sat down and committed
to writing a play a day for the next 365 days. For the 2006-07 Season, The Public will produce the New York premiere of these works by gathering together a widely diverse cross-section of New York’s theater companies to participate in this project. Over the course of one year, the selected theaters - curated by The Public, Suzan-Lori Parks and Producer Bonnie Metzger - will perform these brief, brilliant snapshots from the imagination of one of America's leading playwrights. This will be part of a yearlong national festival of the play cycle that will take place in major cities around the country including Atlanta, Los Angeles and Denver. Tickets at The Public will be FREE.
Doesn't that sound amazing!!??

i will house you
So You Think You Can Dance is back, pimps & players!
I gave up on Idol after the first season (Kelly Clarkson??!?!) and found my salvation in this national talent show. Why? Because it's where a queen can be a queen! A bboy can be a bboy! A big boned girl can shake it like a salt shaker!
I love that a valid compliment for most of the male modern dancers is "you have a masculine style." Who says that? And why is it okay to say that??
American Idol has had plenty of queens strut the catwalk (I won't name names) and Simon,Paula,&Randy have ignored it every time. This show doesn't deny family. There's no shame. I love it. And the female judge has the greatest laugh ever!!!!
Also, I found out today that Steve Nash is married to a woman of color!!! I've decided like him even more. I'm hunting for a picture of her. I'm watching game 5 right now. It's the start of the 2nd quarter and it doesn't look good for Phoenix. I know they'll pull through. They've got to.
And . . . You. Should. See. This. Show. It's written by one of the coolest playwrights around (Diana Son). It stars two of the coolest actors (Sandra Oh & Kevin Carrol). And the set is quite amazing. I saw it Monday night and had a good time.
